SHELF-INDEX
Started out on noise / sample manipulation, Shelf-Index switched gear to explore the possibilities on DJing by participating in different crews,
throwing parties in the likes of clubs and art galleries, plus supporting the likes of Filastine, Bok Bok, Nguzunguzu etc. With his deep love of cultural clashes and the exploration of possibilities, he picked up the duties to curate 2014’s FreeSpace Festival (alongside Mike Orange@ Chochukmo and William Lane @ HKNME), bringing in artists ie DJ/ Rupture and Howie Lee for local collaborative performances.
Shelf-Index also initiated the annual Canton Party 華語金曲series alongside like-minded DJs / musicians such as Stef:Funn / Yuen Chi-Chung/ Elphonso Lam 林祥焜, the series had been proven a constant hit and events are often sold out. A glimpse of his vintage Canton Style could be found at:https://www.mixcloud.com/shelfindex/fake-rolex-a-mixtape/
From 2015-2017 he worked on the audio/visual project “Gravity Alterstra” with Alok and vocalist Janni, actively performing in Festivals and live events, including Clockenflap and Wow and Flutter, plus Spring Scream in Taiwan ETC.
2018 onwards Shelf-Index has once again back on the field as a DJ/ solo artist, and has been sharing the same stage with artists such as Lee Gamble, Zuir, Abyss X , Minor Science, The Glitch Mob. And has been actively doing collab or remix projects with artists such as Sophy Wong, Pong Nan, Subyub Lee, WRACK and Betty Apple to name a few, inserting his aggressive sound aesthetics into different genres and styles.
2024 also sees him invading the cantopop scene via different collaboration projects, notably co-producing the Chart-topping single “China Town.Love ” (《情定唐人街》) alongside fellow producers hirsk and Voel, which charted at NO.2 on "Ultimate Song Chart"(叱咤樂壇流行榜) on CR2 in Hong Kong and has been greatly received.
